Described by the composer as 'an explosion of life', Canadian composer Claude Vivier's hypnotic tribute to the people of Bali Pulau Dewata begins this opening concert. Influenced by Oriental culture, ZZ's Dream by Argentina's Osvaldo Golijov explores an ancient Chinese poem, and the great Japanese composer Takemitsu's Tree Line pays tribute to the beauty of nature. Italy's Luca Fransesconi Etymo concludes the concert with a playful exploration of the sounds of words. All in all, a tapestry of sounds revealing the sonic depth of the modern chamber orchestra.

Arrival from Sweden – the Music of ABBA live with the VSO!

Arrival from Sweden is the largest touring ABBA tribute band in the world, having performed in over 20 nations including the USA, UK, Australia, France, Holland, Sweden, Vietnam, and China. Arrival from Sweden's production "The Music of ABBA" includes original ABBA musician Mike Watson, and is the only ABBA show with exclusive rights to use replicas of ABBA's original clothing, and to record and perform the unreleased ABBA track "Just a Notion."
