"The King of Motown, Smokey Robinson, will close the show at the Burnaby Blues and Roots Festival this summer, maybe the biggest act in the show’s 10-year history.
Smokey could fill a box set with just the hits he produced with the Miracles and on his own over the decades on the legendary Chess and Motown labels. How he keeps his show under four hours is a mystery."

Their ninth great season offers 50 classical, world and jazz concerts in nine favourite Vancouver venues, with a special 2009 programming spotlight on the music and musicians of Germany. The full lineup showcases gifted artists from around the world and across Canada, appearing in morning, afternoon and evening concerts.

The 2009 Odlum Brown VanOpen presented by Invesco Trimark is back for its 8th year. Many of the VanOpen Players recently competed in the French Open and Wimbledon. Women's prize money raised 50% to $75,000. Total tournament prize now $175,000 US. Hollyburn Country Club completes $13+ million in renovations for this years VanOpen.
August 7-9, 2009
The Abbotsford International Airshow is held every year on the second or third weekend in August. Abbotsford is a medium sized town about 100 kilometers east of Vancouver in Beautiful British Columbia. Situated just 5 minutes north of the US border town of Sumas, WA and about 15 minutes north of old dutch town Lynden, WA. The show is a roaring success every year and attendence is mostly in the 100,000 area. This years show will be held on August 7, 8 and 9 - 2009 and will be the 47th time this event has been put on.
