Vampire Weekend @ Malkin Bowl

August 27th & 28th, 2010

Vampire Weekend are an indie pop/rock band with afro-beat influences. Bandmates Ezra Koenig, Rostam Batmanglij, Christopher Tomson and Chris Baio formed February 2006 in New York, NY.

Describing their sound as "Upper West Side Soweto," New York City's Vampire Weekend mixes preppy, well-read indie rock with joyful, Afro-pop-inspired melodies and rhythms. Word spread about Vampire Weekend's unique sound and lyrics ("Oxford Comma"'s title refers to comma use in a list of three items), buoyed by the band's self-released EPs, which they recorded in locations spanning their Columbia dorm rooms to a family barn.

The band plays two outdoor shows in Vancouver's Stanley Park, August 27th and 28th.
