Joe Cocker

Joe Cocker – one of the truly great rock voices of all time – was born in Sheffield, England the youngest son of a civil servant. Cocker began his career in music in 1961 when by day, he worked as an apprentice gas fitter and by night, would be in dark suit and bow tie performing under the stage name, Vance Arnold singing rock and soul with The Avengers in local pubs.

His next band, Big Blues was formed in 1963 followed by The Grease Band in 1966. It was a big day for Cocker on April 27, 1969 when he was featured on CBS’s “The Ed Sullivan Show.” The press seized upon him and soon he found himself singing at all the major rock festivals that summer culminating in the filmed triumph of Woodstock before half a million people.

Famous for his sold-out performances, Julio Iglesias has for nearly three decades been synonymous with romantic ballads and a career that has been filled with one record-setting achievement after another. Iglesias is a living legend who received the first and only Diamond Record Award ever given to a performer by the Guinness Book of World Records for selling more records in more languages than any other musical artist in history. Often referred to as “the universal voice” and the “master of the love song,” Iglesias performs concerts in multiple languages around the world unrivaled not just in the number of albums sold but also in the number of lives he has touched.

In 1988, he received a Grammy Award for “Best Latin Singer of the Year” for his album, Un hombre solo. Earlier this year, just before the start of the European leg of his world tour, his eighth child, Guillermo, was born. Julio Iglesias will be performing at both the River Rock Casino Resort and the Boulevard Casino’s Red Robinson Show Theatre in May, 2009.
